Our expert consultants have experience in a variety of historic and environmental laws. We also provide customized support for research and academic endeavors.
Section 106 of the NHPA is federal law requiring any development or undertaking with federal involvement, especially permits or funding, to survey and mitigate potential effects to cultural sites and historic properties. We work with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) to see your project through. Section 110 of the NHPA requires federal agencies to survey and inventory cultural resources on all administered land. Many states have similar compliance requirements.
NEPA requires U.S. agencies to evaluate the environmental impacts of their actions, decisions, and undertakings. Many projects require an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which include sections on impacts to cultural resources, archaeological sites, and historic structures.
DOEs are often required by SHPOs when historic or archaeological sites occur within areas of potential effect (APE). We can evaluated site significance, site boundaries, and eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places.
